It's good and bad.

Slashdot.org is a great Linux-oriented geek site with some of the best tech
references out there. Bad discussions for the most part -- largely
uninformed and impossible to get through anymore.

But the readership is so huge that any site mentioned in an article is
immediately flooded with visitors. I was slashdotted about three years ago
(for a transcript of a taped interview with Bill Gates in 1980 where he
said "there's nobody making money writing software") and my site was
clogged for days.

So it's good because of the publicity and bad because of the bandwidth
costs and site slowdown.
