Can't say I've ever actually heard "ort" spoken, but I think I've come
across it in print (in the plural) once or twice.

Gardyloo does indeed derive from "gare (de) l'eau", and was used in old
Edinburgh to warn passersby that the contents of the chamberpots were
about to be tossed out the window.
