Yes.  To play it as a game you have to load it into a ramdisk. 
 Otherwise you will spend most of your time waiting and listening to 
floppy drives grinding away.

As a simulation it is quite realistic if (and only if) you play it at 
the expert level in real time.  Anyone for a 90 day deployment?  LOL!
