This is kind of nice. I get to send out an email telling you about
upcoming gigs. There is much more to tell , weddings and whatnot, but
I have a Masters thesis due in 17 days, my time is at a real premium.
And yet, I haven't let that stop me from booking gigs. This weekend
marks a debut at a concert series I've been trying to be a part of
for years. The acoustic brew concert series in State College, Pa.

It's the kind of venue that folkies kill for: supportive musician-
freindly venue, that pays well, with a built in audience of music
lovers. But the real reason this gig is big to me is that it is one
hour from my hometown. Meaning my mom can come to the gig.
My parents are as supportive as any can be I suppose. They drive to
see me whenever it's feasible, that's usually about 3 hours or better
one way. So something that is literally "over the hill" is a nice
personal thank you to them from me.
We have a nice opening gig for Jay Mankita (whom Pete Seeger calls
"one of the half-dozen best songwriters out there)
Of course, I need to call them and let them know we're coming. There
not really into this whole "interweb" thing.
Oh, but that's not all. Next weekend —Oct. 14th— we're back in
Louisville to do another taping of the Kentucky Homefront. A radio
show that has been a wonderful experience every time we've been
involved with it.
and not long after that, we return to England, primarily for the
Launde Dulcimer weekend in Leistershire, but our dear friend
Christine Smith has taken it upon herself to book us a couple of
shows as well. All this is available on my mySpace page (which would
explain the lack of life on my butchross.com page) or on our new-ish
page butchandchristie.com
Okay I gotta go, I'm not lying about that thesis. Then, once that's
done, I'm putting the band back together. ;-)
c-ya out there.
