I almost started this email with an apology for not getting out more, but
then I remembered I been working my butt off here. I been learning a ton of
holiday songs for  this show coming up next week. I¹ll post the ³official²
press release below, But I also wanted to mention that you be able to get a
special EP of Christmas tunes I recorded on the Mountain Dulcimer at this
show, the CD comes packaged in a Christmas card, so you can give them as
gift as well. I set up a special website for it as well, if you go to

Amid the hubbub of this peak holiday season, there will be a chance to stop,
catch your breath, and treat yourself to the soothing solace of five of
Philadelphia's favorite acoustic performers.  From Brazilian Jazz and Stride
Blues, to Ragtime, Folk and Original Pop compositions, there will be
something for everyone at this two-hour showcase, being held at the
Philadelphia Ethical Society in Rittenhouse Square.

 

The Performers:

 

Mick Choder blends percussive guitar rhythms with sometimes soul-baring,
sometimes tongue-in-cheek lyrics, making an immediate impact on his
listeners. Choder's music explores the variety of human relationships,
delivering a message with heart, and an undeniable funky folk-rock groove.

 

Phyllis Chapell is an elegant multi-lingual singer who will "steal your
heart away if you let her." She accompanies herself on Spanish guitar,
playing an eclectic mix of world music, ranging from Brazilian sambas and
Jazz standards, to Folk ballads and original works.  "She eludes all
labels!"   - The Philadelphia Inquirer.

 

Butch Ross’ self-depreciating style belies his mastery and innovation with
the mountain dulcimer, the whole repertoire of which he's practically turned
on its head.  Whether played on guitar or dulcimer, in Butch's hands,
traditional tunes become pop-rock masterpieces and classic rock tunes become
paeans to simpler times.


Patti Shea's well-crafted, acoustic/pop songs and amazing voice have become
the hallmarks of an exceptional emerging artist. Commanding attention, she
weaves her audience through themes of life and love that are both universal
and introspective.  "Her voice shimmers and soars, ever so tastefully, from
one fine song to the next." - Gene Shay


Bradley N. Litwin spans stride blues and ragtime jazz, with a spirited noise
that recalls Cab Calloway's howling, King Cole's smooth-as-silk, and a
generous dose of Robert Johnson down-to-the-crossroads.  He draws you in and
holds you with authentic recreations, last heard during the "Hi Dee Ho" days
of the 1920s and '30s.


Produced and organized by the performers, themselves, this show will offer
the homespun comfort of an informal living room gathering of best friends,
in the heart of downtown shopping.  Intended for general audiences, the two
hour show starts at 3 PM, each performer playing for about twenty minutes.
Admission is $12 adults/$6 children.
