I think that is the key to retention of members, & to our survival in the future. Some thoughts on the subject: The mentor will have to be committed to keeping in touch w/ their new member periodically. They should offer to bring them to board meetings, offer a job to do with them on their committee & follow up. Professional members should be matched with an officer or past president and offered a committee assignment. Students from the same program could be paired up and matched w/ the same mentor so they can support each other and do it together. I've made a few updates on the VSCLS web site. First, I've posted the dates for the upcoming BOD meetings. From the feedback I got from the tentative announcement, those dates were generally acceptable, with a couple of exceptions. Plus, as we discussed at the retreat, I'd like to offer the teleconference option more often so that even if someone cannot be at the BOD meeting in person, they can still participate. Second, I added an announcement passed on to me from Bernie Bekken about the agreement reached by the major Laboratory Certification Agencies. Third, I updated the Leadership listing to reflect the open positions on the Board.
