The idea of an open source narrative is interesting, but I imagine it would make the "game" aspect extremely difficult to maintain.

Eric Martin has been developing an interesting narrative project where he maintains ownership over specific characters but has turned over the universe to Creative Commons, allowing other creative people to create derivative works (any format) within the universe.
