Alongside Mark's query, I'd love to learn about any books which fit
under the "antecedent to ARG" header.

While it is certainly valid to ask for suggestions on good puzzle books,
I
hope this is more of a side question than anything related to developing
ARGs. Do you really think that what ARGs really need right now are more
recycled puzzles tacked over the top of a narrative? Morbus, I'm not
trying
to give you a hard time or make assumptions about what you (or anyone
else)
is going to do with books of puzzles, but it scares me to think of more
Mensa-style puzzles getting attached to ARGs. That territory seems so
amazingly tired.
